About the Studio

It is our mission to promote the appreciation of and participation in ceramic arts through group and individual education programs, public outreach and the creation of a diverse ceramic arts community.

KC Clay Guild was founded in 1988 in the home of potter Michael Smith. Soon after, approximately 70 artists from the Kansas City area were renting spaces and getting together to educate, purchase materials in bulk and socialize with each other.

In the years since, KCCG has grown and evolved. Our current Studio Director Louis Reilly is in charge of studio upkeep, marketing and enrollment, and ensuring we fulfill our mission statement.
